The birth of the man behind a mountain of champion's began in 1965 when he began to study the art of judo. He quickly progressed to orange belt but felt he needed to push himself to higher levels, this is when he took up boxing in 1966. Fighting at fly weight Grand Master Goff held both junior and senior titles. The 1970's was the era when Grand Master Goff's career really took off. He was recognized by the British Boxing Board of control as a professional boxing coach, he competed in one hundred and fifty two kickboxing bouts only being beaten twice, which he re-fought and won.

Grand Master Goff Bates has promoted one hundred and twenty nine kickboxing shows, inviting 18 countries to compete in these events. He has served over thirty eight years to date in Martial Arts and feels his final challenge is to set up a British Governing Body for kickboxing. |
